Get in the Grid! began with a preacher's foster kid, a love for Christian artwork, and a dream of helping small churches grow.
My name is Katheryn C. Hickey, also known as author Sabrina Oxford and the Queen of Kindness.
I grew up in foster care, and my childhood included living with a Baptist minister's family in Minnesota. At age 16, I was given the opportunity to choose a family where I wanted to live. I chose the home of Pastor Dale and Judi Cope of Stanchfield, Minnesota.
Growing up in foster care meant moving between different homes and communities. Along the way, I attended different churches and noticed something that stayed with me.
Some of the smallest churches had the biggest hearts.
They had faith, compassion, and wonderful people, but they didn't always have the membership or financial resources to grow and support the activities they dreamed of providing.
I began wondering how I could combine my love of photography, artwork, and creativity with my faith to make a difference.
I prayed for a way to help churches while doing something I genuinely loved.
And from that dream, Christian Mosaics and Churches Helping Churches were born.
Where it began · 2013
The Original Get in the Grid!

In 2013, I developed a program that invited congregation members to become part of a beautiful photographic mosaic.
Each participating church member could purchase a $20 photograph placement. Their individual photograph became one tiny piece of a much larger Christian image, such as The Lord's Supper.
Once all the photographs were collected, they were arranged to create the finished artwork.
The original program was designed to provide a printed, framed mosaic for the church to display, while returning a portion of the proceeds to participating churches.
I called it Get in the Grid!
The idea was simple:
Every person matters. Every photograph has a place. Together, we create something beautiful.
The printed, framed mosaic was part of the original program. Today's offering provides digital artwork; churches arrange their own printing and framing.

Bringing Get in the Grid! Into the Digital Age
Today, Get in the Grid! has been reimagined as an online photo-mosaic experience.
Churches no longer have to depend on someone traveling to their location to collect individual photographs.
Instead, a church can create its own mosaic project online, select its favorite artwork, and invite congregation members to participate using a website link or QR code.
Members can upload photographs using their phones, tablets, or computers.
As photographs are added and approved, the congregation can watch its collective picture grow.
Each participant receives a permanent numbered position so they can find their photograph in the completed mosaic.
When the project is finalized, the church receives access to a high-quality digital JPEG of its selected design.
The church can then arrange printing, framing, sharing, and displaying the artwork.
Churches Helping Churches Today
Our program continues the original mission of helping congregations create something meaningful while supporting their churches.
20% Back to Participating Churches
Participating churches receive 20% of eligible photo-mosaic sales.
Church Referral Rewards
An eligible church that refers another church may receive an additional 10% commission on the referred church's first completed mosaic project, provided the new church activates its project within 45 days using the referral code. No referral commission is owed without a qualifying referral. Church shares are paid manually, not automatically transferred.

- Parent & Children Package: $30 for one parent or legal guardian and up to 4 eligible dependent children.

We believe financial hardship should not prevent someone from being included in their church family's mosaic.
Participating churches can privately provide up to 25% of their available participant positions at no charge.
These participants appear in the finished mosaic alongside everyone else, without any public designation of how their place was provided.
More Than a Photograph
A mosaic reminds us that a beautiful picture is created from many smaller pieces.
Individually, each photograph tells a story.
Together, those photographs tell the story of a congregation, a community, and the people who make it special.
Whether your church has 50 members or 500, every person deserves to feel that they belong.
The Kingdom of Kindness
My dream of helping others has continued to grow over the years.
Through my larger Kingdom of Kindness vision, I hope to inspire people to practice unconditional kindness, compassion, generosity, and random acts of kindness toward those who need them most.
Visitors who would like to participate in future volunteer opportunities are welcome to join our free volunteer interest list below.
The existing Avalon Wall of Names project is available separately through GLAM Live Now.
Participation in the Kingdom of Kindness is optional and separate from any mosaic purchase.

When I was growing up in foster care, I learned how important it was to feel welcomed, valued, and included.
That feeling of belonging is something I want others to experience.
Get in the Grid! is about much more than putting photographs together.
It's about creating a lasting reminder that every person has a place, every person has value, and together we can accomplish things that none of us could accomplish alone.
What began as one preacher's foster kid's idea to help smaller churches has become an opportunity for congregations to celebrate their communities in a beautiful and lasting way.
And if our little pieces of artwork can help churches grow, preserve memories, and encourage people to spread more kindness, then my original dream is still doing exactly what I hoped it would do.
With love, faith, and kindness,
Katheryn C. Hickey
